Differences Between Ranger Models

We always seem to get questions about what the differences between the FX4 and the lvl II are so....
2005 Ranger Year
Three Engine Choices

* 2.3-liter DOHC I-4 producing 143 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque.
* 3.0-liter OHV V-6 engine with 148 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque.
* 4.0-liter SOHC V-6 that produces 207 hp and 238 lb-ft of torque.

A five-speed manual transmission is standard, or you can choose the optional five-speed automatic.

Standard Safety Features

* Four-wheel anti-lock brakes
* Frontal air bags and safety belts with front pretensioners
* Outboard seating positions and side intrusion door beams.
* LATCH child seat mounts are provided in the front passenger seat on all models.
* 24-hour Roadside Assistance on all models.

Ranger XL:

* 15-inch steel wheels
* black front and rear bumpers
* black bar-style grille with black grille surround
* manual side mirrors
* interval wipers
* rally gauge cluster

Ranger XLT adds:

* chrome grille surround
* styled side mirrors
* 15-inch, seven-spoke steel wheels on 4x2 or 16-inch cast aluminum wheels on 4x4
* interior carpeting and floor mats
* AM/FM stereo with CD player

Ranger EDGE adds:

* tow hooks (4x4 only)
* body-color grille surround
* bumpers and wheel-lip moldings
* honeycomb grille
* three wheel variations
* textured vinyl flooring
* white-faced rally gauges
* AM/FM stereo with MP3/CD player and cassette
* air conditioning and cloth split-bench seat

can you imagine buying a ranger back in the mid '80's? here were the models to chose from:
ranger "s"
xl
xls
xlt
xlt lariat
stx
sst
custom
explorer
diesel
gt
bigfoot cruiser

those are just the body styles! there were regular cabs, supercabs, 6 foot or 7 foot beds, engine choices....

these models were factory options from ford. they were not built by another dealer such as saleen or rousch.
