Does this sound legit?

Got a bite on Craigslist about my tonneau cover for sale, but it sounds very very sketchy to me. Is this some craigslist scam or something?

"l really appreciate your response to my email. I want you to consider
it sold, pls do withdraw the advert from CL to avoid disturbance, anyways I
don't have time to come over to take a look because of my
Business but you don't need to bother yourself with the shipment, I'll
take care of that by engaging the services of a mover, hence I'll be
sending a check and it will be delivered to you via United Parcel
Service (UPS), so I'll need you to provide me with the following
information to facilitate the mailing of the check.

Full name on the check.
Full Physical address to post the check
City, State and Zip Code
Home & Cell Phone to contact you.

Note that the payment will be shipped to your address via UPS NEXT DAY
AIR SERVICE and I will like you to know that you will not be
responsible for shipping i will have my mover to come over as soon as
you have cashed the check*"

Thanks!

I gotta tell ya, that sounds like a scam in the making. There is nothing immediately fraudulent in that message but I would be willing to be the next one will. It will go something like this. His next email will be telling you that check he sent you is for more than the value of the sale, probably by a lot. You cash the check and send him the difference. The check is bogus and will bounce a few days later. You are out the money you "sent back" to him.

Sounds like that scam about 3 years ago where the guy says hes sending you a like $2k money order and you have to take off some of the money for yourself and give the rest to someone else...OR something of that nature.

Anyone who responds with a lengthy message of how hes going to buy it is full of **** most of the time.

Normal people just say they will buy it.

Sure go for it. Put the check in the bank, call him and tell him to send his "MOVER", mover picks it up, then bank calls and says check is bogus....Just messing with ya. If he wont come in person or wont pay to ship??????? then they have ill intentions IHMO. Tell him to send postal money order

Scam.

Deal with local pickup only on CL and cash ONLY. Don't deal with checks or MO's. Anything talking about arranging shipping, movers, checks, money orders, wire transfers is a scam. Selling on RF via paypal and stuff is perfectly fine though, seeing as how you get a buyer/seller rep on here and know who's good to buy from and so on.

Glad you came and asked us though. Smart move man!

I got a handful of the same response when I posted a furniture set on CL. When I finally said "CASH ONLY" they stopped coming.

This same thing happened when I sold my Bed Cover, exept the guy said he was deaf and couldnt meet me or answer the phone but his secratary would arange it. Well we emailed back and forth and each time when I hit reply it was sending to a differant Email address all from GMail and Hotmail. So I said screw it the next day a guy contacted me paid cash and picked it up. So blow them off.

Ding Ding, Winner!!!!

Don't reply back. The whole thing is automated, if you reply back for any reason they will likely store your email address (automated) and sell it to a spammer.

There are a ton of different scams on craigslist you have to watch out for.

I actually had a person CALL ME on something I was selling on craigslist, and they said the exact same thing OVER THE PHONE about a shipper, and me sending them the extra money or whatever.
