I am looking for a dome light to replace the stocker and add map lights. Found two Mustang domes, one is the 89-93 style which is kinda big, but is not as tall, and another is the '94+ style which is more fat and round, but about half the length.

I'm leaning towards the '94+ style as I had the same one in my last ranger, but has anybody put in the older style into their truck?

Stupid Question

In pre-2004, yes. Does your 2004 have the wire for the map lights? I know a bunch of cab wiring changed in 2004, but I'm unsure about the changes. I vaguely remember someone saying that in addition to the loss of the bed light wire, the map light wire was deleted also -- but that certainly could be faulty recall.

I do believe some folks have used the older lights in Rangers though. I have a Windstar one in mine currently instead of the F-150 one I did have because I like the individual map light switches. My truck is 2002.

I actually remember hearing the same thing, so I guess I should pop off the one I got first just so we know.

There is no longer a constant power supply in the headliner. :x
You will need to tap into a source and run it up there if you want the map lights to work.
There were MANY electrical changes to the 2004 wire harness. :?
Have you noticed where the fuse box is yet??
One nice change is the access door to reach the main  light switch. :)
