I've heard of guys adding a third shock like that to help with wheel hop.

Well it must be for some sort of lateral stability. My guess would be something similar to an anti-sway bar. Is the thing IRS?

It was from an s-10. Some upgraded models had them. It was a common mod to add one to those that didn't have them to help with wheel hop.

ok yeah well I could see where that could help prevent wheel hop then. It's some sort of stabilizer.
