Finally Got Towed Home!!!!!!!!!

What a sad, sad day. I was on my was to drop some ventshades off for one of my buddies at Town Fair Tire, When I noticed that there was a slight vibration in the truck that I didn't have before.

hmmmmmmmmm, ohh well just keep driving. There was no noises or banging sounds, so I figured one of the wieghts came flying off the tires.

Nope, it could "NEVER" be that simple.

So when I got there, I got out to see oil all over my side step bars. So I now look underneath. I have oil all over the undercarraige of my truck, and oil in all of the wheel well's. I was like "WTF".....

We put it up on the only lift they got which is the alignment rack. I couldn't find the leak, But the oil was tranny oil. Pretty hard to find that leak because the power steering, tranny, and transfer case all run on ATF, and the "WHOLE" underneath is covered in oil.

So, my buddy called one of his buddies to come check it out, and to my supprise. He said that the seal on the front of the transfer case has a hole in it and he can move the seal around with his fingers. So that's shot. Now my problem is, "DID I COOK THE INTERNALS ON THE TRANSFER CASE OR NOT!"

I dropped it off at the doctors to get checked out, and they said that I would have an answer by wednesday.

Anyway, I managed to get a pic of my first tow truck visit since I owned the truck. I have put over 60,000 miles on it and this was my first visit by the tow truck fairy.

While the pic is here, you can see my new BFG A/T 31x10.5 tires, wheels, toolbox, bushwacker bed rails, and if you look on the dash, you can see my sirius sat radio setup.

I know it's a sh*tty pic, but what do you want from a camera phone. LOL

Thanks for the compliments on the truck guys.

I hope it doesn't cost that much to repair. Although I really can't complain about it. It makes 2 years next month that i've owned it and a lil over 60,000 miles that i've put on, and this is the first real problem that it's given me.

Guess i've been lucky so far..

WELL: Got my baby back yesterday.

They told me that there was nothing leaking underneath. I was like "WTF", So where did all that oil come from?????????

The guy said that nothing was low on oil in my truck, the "ONLY" thing that was low was the windshield washer fluid...LOL

That's some wierd sh*t. He said that I must have run over something on the highway, BUT I know that I didn't. With the amount of oil that was under there, it would have had to be a gallon container of oil........The underneath of the truck from the tranny crossmember back was covered with oil, and on the underside of the cab, The only section That was soaked was right above the transfer case.

But he said that he checked it all out and that there was nothing wrong with it. He even drove it around for 100 miles total distance, and kept checking underneath evertime he came back to the shop and it was always dry......

I don't know, I guess it was better being safe than sorry. Considering that it got towed from where it was to the garage that was a total of 60 miles away. I guess the free tow job (AAA), and $45 to check it out is better than $1500 for a new transfer case or tranny, if it really was the truck.

I guess that i'll keep driving it and see if it does it again.

I told the owner that he can drive it, Because in the "REALLLLLLLYYYYYY" small print at the bottom of the work order said that if something breaks while they are on a test drive, it then becomes there responsibility. So, considering that he told me that there was nothing wrong with it. I told him to drive it. So if the transfer case really was screwed, and it blew while he was driving it, he would now eat the job.

But, it's been fine so far (knock on wood). We'll see about it tomorrow, I have a 60 mile trip to do tomorrow.

Where I park my truck at night, it's pretty clean under it. Although it's on the street, it is still clean.

Been good so far. I think that I might have run over "A SH*T LOAD" of oil spilled on the highway and didn't notice it.

But was the vibration caused by?

Id say check the tranny to make sure it isn't low....or leaking. Also if you can check the steering rack boots and hoses.....something just doesn't seem right.

Could there be a posiblity that they are saying there isn't anything wrong, but there is....and they knew they would be required to fix it if was in their custody when 'something' happened.

I dunno.....but something just isn't right.

They told me that there was nothing wrong before I told them to drive it. I was there when he said that, so I looked at my odometer just to make sure that it didn't move, and all of the numbers were still in the same exact spots (according to the picture that I took of it....LOL).

I don't know about the vibration?????? It is still there slightly. I only get it at around 70 mph on the highway. If I speed up or slow down it goes away??????

I checked all of the fluids again today, and they were all full.
