Fire extinguishers.

Anyone mount a fire extinguisher in their truck? 2 questions...

A. Are all ABC fire extinguishers safe to leave in a vehicle year round given the extreme temps an interior can get to in the summer and below freezing in the winter?

B. Anyone have a pics of their mounting setups? I have a regular cab so space is tight. Trying to get some ideas. I'm thinking about mounting on the passenger seat floor bracket but worried about it getting kicked around.

I have an ABC mounted in the bed on my ladder rack post. I swap it out every few years or anytime I use it. No problem with 100+ temps or around freezing.

Sorry, no picture of it.

I have a medium sized one mounted in the passenger foot well tucked up quite a ways so you still have a good amount of leg room.

It never gets any direct sunlight down there so ambient temp is the only thing to worry about.

I'll try and remember to take a picture of it tonight.

I would be using a halon extinguisher not an ABC powder type - that powder will corrode every wire, connector, pin, socket it encounters if you ever have to use it. Plus the powder can get compacted from the vehicle vibrations to where it will be utterly useless in a fire. (think of a spice jar in your kitchen like onion powder or garlic powder - it gets clumpy with moisture and wont sprinkle out for **** - same thing can happen with the powder inside the extinguisher just from vibrations)

Even your home ones your supposed to shake around every once in awhile.
