That could be right, my memory sucks. There should be threads in the frame/ifs. However, mine stripped out, so I put a nut on the back of the ones attached to the ifs and I had to redrill/tap the frame holes larger. Hopefully your threads are still ok.

McMaster #90096A583 will work perfect and they are under $10 shipped for more then you will ever need.

if you still have the plastic cover where the skid goes, they are the same bolts, and you can use them to thread the holes then use 2 other standard bolts in the holes that are left.

This is correct but it is a thread cutting flange bolt. I used English equivalents and they worked great, you need 6 of them in total.

I ended up using self tappers as well on the front and transfer case skidplates - started when I lost a nut from the transfer case skid plate - ended up using self tappers on the front skid plate as well. Seems to work ok. Haven't had to touch the fuel tank skid plate yet, and hopefully never will.
