Ford employee discount

I heard on the radio that Ford and Chrystler are going to be trying out the employee discount scheme. I believe they said GM went up something like 40% in sales due to their sale. Something to look into if you're thinking of getting a new Ranger or something else.

A discount is a discount is a discount.. I don't care what they call it.

why? then if the sale ends then people will just not buy and wait till the sale starts agian, dont get me wrong i like good prices. but i dont think this is helping the problem.

There will always be a 'sale'. Depending on what product you want, I don't see any reason to wait.

Indeed. Even if it's no better than without the sale, the word "sale" sparks purchasing....

my dad is looking for a car, so he was over at the Pontiac dealer. We were looking at the GTO, the new modle, and out the door was $30,300, plus a huge gas gussler tax of $1,300.

The "employee discount" sale price is a hell of a lot less than any "normal" sale.

The discount supposedly started today. Got a email from a local dealer saying it was going through August, I wonder if they have started advertising for it yet.

Actually a sale is a sale. Ford Motor Credit is still one of the most profitable part of Ford Motor Company. Sure, there may not be that much profit on a sale @ employee cost, but each sale = future parts and services, market share, and of course financing.

It would also be a great opportunity to liquidate any inventory, while slowing down production. Unsold vehicles do nothing but depreciate.

Goes to show you how much of a mark-up these vehicles have in the first place. and it's the same situation the manufacturers were in after 9/11 when sales stagnated they all intoduced 0% finan, that slowly dissappered after inventory cleared and the economy picked up.

Oh, of course it does show how much the are ripping us off. You have to figure, they are never going to give it away, they are never going to NOT make a profit. So no matter what they say about sacrificing themselves to save you money, it's BS. They are still making plenty of $$$.
