I have a 1993 Ranger Splash I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on the rear end in it because I'm trying to decide if i wanna swap it out with the lift or just leave the current rear-end. I know it is a ,8-inch 28-spline rear axle. Also I'm not going to spend over $500 on the differential. Also I will not be wheeling a lot with the truck, It is my daily driver to work and school, but I will probably go at least once a month. So thoughts, Ideas, and Input is appreciated.

 

If it's an 8.8 I'd leave it unless you got a killer deal on a 31 spline outta an fx4.

Leave it unless you are upgrading to a 31 spline as stated above. Exploders have 31 spline and disc starting in 96. I think these are a hair wider but not enough to worry about. I do know they are a popular swap.

What axle code do you have?? A lot of Ranger axles are "open" and don't have any type of locker. My 93 has that issue and am thinking about adding one.

 

RF-FOTW-AA is all i could find on the differential and 91 is on the door jam i checked it out and it looks like its open :/

 

Code 91: Open 8.8, 28 spline, 3.27 ratio. Same as my 93 XLT 4x4.
