once or twice per year, i wont hear my fuel pump turn on while turning the ignition on. but if i come back hours later, it works fine, then it will be fine for 6 months and it happens again.

last time it happened, we removed the fuel pump relay under the hood and put it back in and it was fine.

today, it happened again, i pulled the relay out, cleaned the connections and the fuel pump kicked on, i turned the key off and back on and it did not turn on.

what could be causing this problem every year.

the fuel pump turn on once today so i know the fuel pump is fine,

i stopped at autozone today and picked up a new relay, will try it when i get home later.

any other ideas??

Bad ignition switch??? Try putting a test light on the wire to the solinoid and turn the ign. sw. on and off several times.

please explain more on how to do this, i am not very knowledgable.

UPDATE: Got home from work and tried truck with old relay, no sound, put new relay in and works great.

gotta love those $9.00 fixes.

Feels real good when you figure out something, then fix it yourself for cheap!
