I would still go beg for warranty work. Like everyone else says, the worst they can do is tell you no. I think most dealers would turn you away but you may run into one who feels like the Ford warranty payment is sufficient (it hardly is) and wants to help you out.

Ya the Ranger manual transmission leaves a lot to be desired. I love driving manual transmissions but the Ranger's tranny doesn't feel that great to shift.

back in our 96 windstar we had. just out of know where it would only shift if done manually. The shift computer had crapped out on it.

sounds like it could be one of multiple simple problems.. which kinda gives me home. but i wouldn't even know where to start lol. hoping to track down a spare set of 16" wheels and throw the little tires on them and take it in.

**** so i really don't know what to do..

wait for someone to email me back on craigslist about their wheels for sale. or just go and buy an 4wd explorer trans and swap it and be done? the second one will take nowhere near as long as taking it to a dealership. plus i need it done by saturday for work. unless the dealer gives you a rental if you're under warranty..

well if they do that, and do the work under warranty, then i guess there would be no problems. guess it can't hurt to try..

just throwing it out there since you had the fluid changed 4,000 miles ago or whatever you said. Have you checked your fluid level?

Get it rebuilt and make sure they put a shift kit in it this time. Also, if your going to keep those 35s regear but I would get rid of them. They cause so much random stress on your suspension... I had to downsize back to 33s and I'll never go back.

Theres a dip stick towards the back of the engine bay. You only have 2, one for oil and one for trans fluid

it was hiding under a hose or two in there lol on the pass side.

anyways, trans fluid looked fine.

and i have good news, my dad has a good buddy who builds prototype parts for offroad ford race trucks, and he's good friends with the owner of a dealer here in town. he's also good friends with the tranny guy. <- lol
anyways, he has an f150 with a lot done to it, and got it in for tranny work under warranty. he's gonna talk to them tomorrow and let us know. might not even have to mount up the 30" tires my dad had stock on his sierra! lol and i'll either be able to get a rental car, or i can drive my aunts range rover for a while since they'll be out of town. soon after i get the truck back it'll be regeared. start my new job on saturday, fulltime + a lot more per hour. ftw!

great news!

it will be covered under warranty. but i either need to A: calibrate the speedo for the bigger tires, or put smaller tires on it. i found one of the new diablosport predator tuners for 200 bucks here for an 07 truck so i'm gonna be picking that up today and adjusting the tire size then taking it in. woot!!! i just hope i get a rental lol
