FX4 vs. FX4 Level II

What is the big difference? I am lookin at a 02 fx4 supercab 4door and am wondering what axle ratio it will have. Do fx4 off-road models usually have 4.10's?

Few differences... if you're looking at an 02, you have the Level II. In 2003 they re badged it the Level II and killed the 4x4 Off Road Package to rename it the FX4. The LII's have 4.10's, full skidplates, the Torsen limited slip (garbage in 02) and Bilstein shocks with bigger tires.

I have an 02 FX4, and it's amazing.

Both the fx4 and the level 2 have a 4:10LS. The level 2 has better shocks, and is a fully loaded ranger from the factory. By that I mean that it comes with all the power options, bucket seats, i think the gauges say fx4 level 2. The level 2 also comes with 15" alcoa wheels and 31 10.5 15 bfg all terrain tires.I think the level 2 might also have two tone paint. There is probably some guys that can name more differences.

I read that link and

We can't confirm Ford's claim that this FX4 can successfully navigate a 2-foot-deep stream.
WTF, so your saying if I get 1" bigger tires, I can drive through 2 foot deep water?

Does it say that your truck can't? It just says the FX4 can.

Well a Mazda B4000 is basically a FX4 without the leather seats or the BFG tires and the Ford symbol also.

I have full skid plates, front tow hooks, 4.10 gears with LS. I am not sure what a torsen diff is but I would guess it's the same.

In 02 FX4 and 03 FX4 Level II w/ manual transmissions....also got a true manual transfer case....thus creating the "twin stick" thing. Even though, "twin stick" really refers to dual stick transfer cases, like the Dana 300. No silly switch on the radio bezel...no problems with shift motors going out, because there isn't one.

'02 Fx4 = '03 Fx4 Level II.

'02 had a funky print on the seats. '03 L2 had either black/blue buckets(like mine) or black/red buckets. All had buckets. Special all Black interior. I know that 02 had a tan interior as well....unsure on anything other than black for 03 L2.

They had special stainless/chrome tow hooks up front. Often called "knuckle" tow hooks.

Both 02 FX4 & 03 L2 up got BLACK valence, flares, and rear bumper plastic. Not many folks notice that, but you would if you put a regular XLT 4x4 right next to a FX4....and you'll notice it if youre like me, and I HATE GREY PLASTIC!!

believe me....'03 L2 is black....and '03 off road is grey. I have a '03 L2 valence and '01 xlt off road valence sitting next to eachother at my house right now. Believe me....there's a difference. One's grey, and ones black. I've got comparison shots...i just gotta find them.
