Hey guys. Me and a buddy are installing a gauge cluster out of a 96 ranger xlt (automatic) into a 96 ranger xlt (manual). I was wondering if there is any way to adjust the milage on the odometer to the current milage on the truck. Also my other question is do the needles on the cluster need to be adjusted to whats on the cluster in the truck now? Any help would be great . Thanks Guys!

 

no not really....u cant wind them bak or forward cuz its electronically controlled...u just have to note the difference in miles and remember it...my gauges are 400 miles off from my stock ones.....

and the needles should stay just the way they are, dont go effin around with them...it'll only throw them off....the CPU in the truck will adjust them accordinly....

 

If it's not broken, you can swap over the odometer mechanism from the old gauges.

 

that and if there is less on the auto than what is on the manual u can put a i think allen bit on the back and stick it in a drill and wind it forward. i did that on my toyota

 

Alright guys well we did the install w/o changing the odometer reading. Oh well its not to big of a deal. Worked out awesome though. Plug and Play. Very simple install. It took us about an hour to take the cluster out of the wrecked ranger at the junk yard this after noon. Then the install took us about 45 min or so to complete..on a 1-10 scale of difficulty it gets a rating of -2. VERY SIMPLE! In my personal opinion if you have ZERO knowledge of cars you can complete this install with ease. Thanks again for all your help guys!

 

and now he's got the gear selector that's of no use!

yah, i've replaced my gauges with explorer ones...its a fun mod...

 

Actually you can pop out the gear selector and change the two of them so there is not letters there. Its a simple mod.
