Gear ?'s
my ranger has 4.10 gears. non-limited slip i beleive. i was wondering if anyone could tell me what that means exactly. compared to 4.10 limited slip... does the non-li mited slip mean that both my back tires spin when i punch it instead of only one, then the other when it has the least grip? any help would be apreciated

Limited slip means that the differential will lock both tires together but not completely. It is limited hence the name. If you get one tire off the ground all the power will go to the one tire just like if it was fully open. You can spin both tires even in an open diff.
A locker will lock both tires completely all the time unless you unlock it if its a switched locker or if you take a turn if its an automatic locker.

Here are some videos. Pretty much locker vs open and ls.

No. Hubs just make the power available to tire. The differential is what splits the power. In snow you will probably spin all 4 since each tire has the same traction which is none on snow. So basically if you are in 4wd with open diffs you are really in 2wd. One front and one rear tire will have power not both in front or both in back since the differential sends power to the tire with the least resistance(traction). The transfer case is locked so that's why you get power at the front and rear at the same time.
