to get a new ranger or not get a new ranger

i currently own a 97 ranger that is a single cab 2 wheel drive. it has 41,000 miles on it. im debating if i should try and sell the truck and get a newer truck that has 4 wheel drive. i would like to do some minor trails in the spring. theres a couple of rangers with around 100,000 miles on them on my local craigslist. thanks for any opinions.

If I had a '97 with only 41,000 on it I'd be keeping it... that thing should last you forever! Why not keep it for a DD and get a 4x4 project?

im still in high school so i cant afford to have two trucks at the house. my truck was a security truck at a hospital and the guy who i got it from just drove it 4 miles a day. ive put more miles than he has in 4 months and he had it for 5 years. i think ill just end up making my truck like a 4x4. put on a valance with fogs, tow hooks, and paint my bumpers. update my current truck instead of getting a new one.

That's a good idea... if it's in good shape then keep it!

My guess is the '97 is paid off and a new truck would have payments....stick with the '97 or get a nice low mileage used Ranger....and only have small payments for a few years...a brand new truck would be too expensive.

Just put in an Expo axle and thats all you need for trails(Thats what I did :D). A 97 with miles so low is REALLY rare. Hold onto it.
