(Pics Added) Is good to be alive, but the ranger isnt

Well last night was the worse night ever...it was around 8:30pm and i was on my way to new port richey when i lost control of the truck and ended in a ditchon a lonely country road...next thing i remember rescuers were trying to pulled me out of the mangled mess of metal and trees.

The truck i think was lying on its side (driver side)the driver window was gone, the airbags did not deploy and my legs were trapped (but not broken) under the streering wheel. They had to cut the roof off to get the backboard in and me out. I dont remember much of what happened or how it happened other than the truck kept me alive. I got some pretty bad bumps and bruises, cuts and fractured face bones.

Not the way I planned on spending 4th of July weekend....

*edit* Here are some pics, I will be adding some to my cardomain as well. Notice the dent on the hood from the tree that kept the truck from rolling over on its top. I know I am blessed to be here talking to you all :)

look at this pic how ironic that the truck is smashed to hell but the brushguard is now finally straight like it is supposed to be....lol

Holy Crap Ty! My 02 Ranger did me proud in a T-Bone accident that I walked away from. I'm glad yours did the same. It was the #1 reason I went right out the SAME DAY I got the insurance check and used it as a downpayment on ANOTHER NEW RANGER, a decision I have not regretted.

Keep checking in with us to let us know how you're doing! I'm glad you're ok, as are the rest of us I'm sure.

THAT sucks SOOOO much, glad you are ok and alive! Our rangers are very safe trucks, when i got into my accident, my truck totaled a car and mine was alright ( only took 9 grand to fix ) but if kept me alive, was doing 45 and hit a stoped car at a light ( couldnt see because of the sun was in my eyes. and the ground was slick cause it had just snowed/rained. BUT ANYWAYS our rangers are safe and im glad your still alive! check in with us tell us how ur doin

If it was a frontal hit, then yes. If the front was not hit, then the crash sensors might not have been set off.

Good to hear that you are ok. My bags didn't deploy when I rolled mine over as well. The sensors are looking for a sharp motion to the front or rear of the vehicle, not for the roof caving in. At least that was the way that it was explained to my by the guy at the body shop. Sux they had to cut the roof off of it though.

If you were sideways or rolling before the impact(s) then the airbag wouldn't go off, as it wouldn't have done much good anyway. When you're rolling over, the airbags being deployed for a few seconds probably isn't going to stop you from banging into things in the cab.

Ty, I am sorry to hear that you're truck is a loss -- but I am ENTHUSIASTIC about you're safety being a success. Granted, I've never gotten into anything with my Level II -- but my friends have gone through many incidents, and have come out safe with victory.

Again, I am glad that you are safe, although bruised and battered. Just think of yourself as battered and deep fried fish...it's ok!

Wait...maybe that wasn't the best analogy.. Either way, hoe to be hearing from you soon, glad...SO GLAD that you are ok!
