Good junkyard finds? I may go get them... (Rear sway-bar and 8.8 3.73LS rear)

I was at my local junkyard yesterday poking around seeing what they had when I spotted a gem of a early to mid 90's Ranger (minus the engine). I got to looking to see if it had anything good on it which it didn't, then looked at the less obvious.

It had this sway-bar:

Minus the rust and needed new u-bolts, would this still be a good bar? I have no clue how much they want for it.

While looking at the bar, I took a look at the axle and thought, hmmmm...

According to the axle codes sticky, its an 8.8 3.73 LSD rear end... Depending upon how much it is, is it worth it?

I would put a coat of POR-15 on both of them, so that isn't really a big deal for me.

DAMN thats rusty!

im a JY rat too, but in SoCal, ive NEVER seen a Ranger with that much rust.

the local yard here charges about $120 for a complete rear end and i think $30 for a sway bar. if its a chick at the counter, try to leave the bar attached to the rear end and you might get it charged less as an assembly.

It is a bit rusty, I think that it has seen a lot of New England winters. If the sway bar is $30, I may pick it up tomorrow, more than that, I dunno.

There is still a Mountaineer sitting in the yard, the same one I got my OHC from, that I saw had a sway bar on it, but I didn't get a good look at the axle that was in it. I may see what is in that and wait it out for a bit...

I went to Ferris' in Salem, a small lot that has mainly cars and a few trucks, only 2 or 3 rangers / explorers there.

Yeah Ranger! You bad person you!

Actually it helped me with figuring out how to mount my bar. Having a heck of a time with the bolt to frame shown in the picture. Tight getting in behind the fuel tank. Looks like I'm trying to do it backwards. Amateurs.

those silly noobs! anyways, keep searching for a 8.8 with a 4.10 L/S... much better than the 3.73's
