Got some Mileage back!...

well maybe this can help others, did for me..

I too was sick of the poor milage, im talkn like 10-13, ya no good, granted its winter here...but still no excuse. so i sat down and though of things i could do and decided it hit its 50k mark, and things should be done...not to mention the beating ive giv'n it over the years..drowning etc.. , sooo i did this over the weekend

-Spark Plugs (bosch platinum 4's)
-2 new bosh performance 02 sensors
-new belt and new puley(for my ears..not milage lol)
-full syn. oil change

but it turns out getn the new plugs and 02 sensors pays off.. cause so far ive gotten a boost of about 30-50 miles on my tank...i'll take that

well im lookn to do some other things to get some back...just makes it a little more enjoyable to drive when i dont have to worry about the gas sucking problem

I have 1,700 on my truck...I'm only getting about 16 MPG...

Seriously though, my 01 Edge had 80,000 on it in July of 04 when I traded it...and I beat the crap outta that truck. I got about 12 MPG with 265's on it & a heavy foot.

200+ buys how much gas?

$2 a gallon / 200 bucks = 100 gallons.

100 gallons at 13mpg = 1300 miles before its paid off or something like that.

im not saying it was a bad choice, its just alot of money to tune up all the time.

I plan on doing my plugs this weekend.

Also might want to consider changing your fuel filter and running some good injector cleaning in it. heres a tip....the red/orange and green tabs, PUSH THEM IN. the single one coming from the front of the motor, you pull it out.

Changed all my spark plugs a couple months ago to Autolite (Grade E) but didn't notice any difference in MPG! :( :(

Just the other day I recorded 14.8 mpg on my truck...that's like the 2nd best I've ever recorded since I got my lift and tires on. Dunno how I did it. I usually get somewhere in the low to mid 13's per gallon.

Yikes, my truck just hit 20,000k. I changed over to bosch dual plat plugs about 1k ago and those motorcrafts looked rediculous for only being 2 1/2 years old w/19k. It's got more jump to it than it did before. And with stock fx4 tires (don't quote me) 245/75/r16 I get an average of about 17.5mpg. I run 89 every other tank too, not too sure if that matters.
