freaking plastic handle....

.... tailgate handle broke for the second time, so....

Besides Ebay, anyone know of a local place to get a new one, preferably a METAL one? Napa, auto Zone, etc?

also, what years interchange with the 01? I've seen conflicting reports and hope someone has replaced their plastic with metal.

I ordered on in March. It is still sitting behind the seat of my truck since I haven't had time to put it in.

Yes, they do suck. Mine hasn't broken yet, but I feel it will any time. When I open my tailgate I usually push on it first to relieve some weight so the handle won't snap off.

It takes a total of about 5 minutes - go frickin do it right now, instead of writing a reply to this post. You'll need a 10mm deep socket, a 6" extension, a socket wrench, and a Torx bit to pull the panel off.

I ordered mine from Underdog too....it's the highest quality I've found, and it was brand new (not junk-yard quality!).

My plastic one broke, and I was able to get a Metal one from Underdog along with some Mag-Lite clips SHIPPED for cheaper than the dealership wanted for a metal one!!!

There are plastichrome stick on covers available. I know it sounds bad, but they look pretty good from what I've seen. Buzzair and a few others have them. they can give a review.
