has anyone else experienced this or explain

drove to local food store,2007 ford ranger sport v6, got my food got into the truck, turned on the ignition my needles on the gauge went up then straight down, the engine tried to turn over,it cranked and cranked but would not fire.after calling dealer for a roadside tow, under warrantee, i called the 1800 number for tow service, lady on the other end suggests that someone could of bumped into the truck setting off the anti theft system, from the factory, suggested that i lock the doors with the key give it 15 minutes then unlock the door and try to restart the truck,it should reset itself, in disbelief i was waiting a hour for the tow to appear, decided to try this thing out,got back into the truck, put the key in and slowly turn the first notch to see all the needles move up and stay up,then turn to fire it up,prestow the truck started up and i called to cancel the tow and the service visit,it has never acted up since, but every time i start i take the time to watch the needles go up and stay up,and she fires up to a roar,(magna flow exhausts)
has anyone experience this or know of this little trick,?

I know its shocking, but the woman might be right. I have heard of this before, but I dont think it was a Ranger.

when the needles move all the way up and back its usually a sign that the battery is going bad.
