I have a 2004 Ranger 3.0 non-flex fuel. Doing a engine swap from a 2000 Ranger 3.0 flex fuel. What modifications will I have to do, to make it work?? Thanks so much folks been really helpful in the past!!

 

The flex fuel heads will work in the non-flex fuel truck/PCM.
You may have to change out the entire cam shaft synchronizer if one has 2 or 3 pin connector, the block is the same , so it's just a simple swap.


Almost forgot, you will have to use your injectors from your non-flex fuel truck.

 

Thanks!! Also what years did the 3.0 have the head gasket/ valve issues?

 

The problem with the soft valve seats was after 99, but I don't know of the exact year.
Ron has posted many times on this, I can do a search or you can.


As far as I know, they never had a head gasket problem.
Any engine that is over heated will crush the head gasket, but that's not an engine problem.

 

2004 to 2006 had the bad valve seats.
