Help with 98-00 Front Chrome Bumper

So I wrecked my 2000 Ranger a year ago and have been progressively been fixing it up as I get time/money to do it. I just got my last body piece to bolt on and make her look purdy again. I drove 45 minutes to Certifit (part place that doesn't ship) to pick up a well priced chrome bumper. I threw it (boxed) into my truck and drove 45 minutes home. I open up the box when I arrive and it the bumper has these...

(Sorry for cell phone pic)
As you can see, these random holes run all the way across the front top of the bumper, 2 small in the front and 3 long on each side. I looked at the website and apparently these are for an "impact strip" which I have had never heard of. I did some googling and this all I found:

98 1998 Ford Ranger Bumper Impact Strip - Body Mechanical & Trim - Action Crash, Front - PartsGeek

These apparently are "impact strips", just a plastic piece that runs across the bumper. These are two separate ones though, I need one that runs across the whole bumper to cover up the two holes in the middle.

Does anyone know more about this. I really need some pictures of 98-00 Rangers with an "impact strip". Please help, I don't want to drive another 45 minutes to argue with Certifit about exchanging it.

Thanks guys. Save me and my aging Ranger the trip.

Oh BTW, those holes aren't for the plastic valence. There are another set of holes for that lower down.

I'm betting it's for the plastic strip that some came on the top of the bumper as seen on my truck here, I personally like the looks of it.

No, its gonna look like this bumper. You can see the strips along the top frontside of the bumper. Its not a complete cap on the top.

Hummm, that makes sense. I want to see one of a Ranger though cause your foglight valence is different.

Ahh I see now, couldn't really tell, the pictures were kinda hard to see.

These Rangers gotta tell you have way to many choices for the front bumpers.

Woah, for that price it would be better to drive the 45 minutes.

I am told they are also called bumper trim and bumper molding

Ya, I dont like them that much honestly. Looks cleaner without them. If it was me, I would drive back and exchange it.

BY IMPERIAL DECREE: I have decided not to drive the 45 minutes, call it a day, and spend the $45 bucks to get the plastic pieces I don't want. My mistake, I have to eat it.
