Help Identifying Mystery Lift

Hey everybody, new guy here with a 2002 FX4 II XLT. I got this truck from a family member with little-to-zero information on the work that had been done to it in the past from the previous owner. It's lifted, but I am unsure how to tell by how much and if it's a suspension or body lift. Also would like to put new tires on, but unsure if 33's would be too big. It has 31's on it currently (tred awfully unaligned, I know - getting alignment after new tires). The torsion keys seem to be uncranked.

Would love to know:
What kind of lift this is and how high it is
What size tires could go on here and what would it look like
What length shocks to buy
Considerations when replacing control arms and other suspension parts

Give us a shot of the front and rear bumpers. If its a body lift, the bumper will be off aligh to the body.

The bed is sitting on the frame and the tow hooks are still up front, so that means the truck does NOT have a body lift.

It doesn't really sit that high, so I'm thinking it doesn't have a Skyjacker or Rancho 4" lift. Take a picture of the front crossmember (that the lower control arms bolt to) so we can confirm.

Since it's a torsion bar truck, that really only leaves aftermarket torsion keys and maybe taller blocks or an add a leaf.

With that being said, 33's can fit on stock torsion bar trucks with the torsion bars cranked all the way up, but you would need to trim your valance and flares a little for clearance. I wouldn't go 33's without at least a 3" body lift. Suspension lift is always preferred over a body lift but 98-2011 Rangers need the upgraded front driveshaft with a suspension lift.

Pretty good gap on the bumpers. Might have a 1 or 1.25 body lift. We need under truck picks to see if there is any lift of some kind. Spring spacers, leveling kit, etc. I'm on Rancho 5" suspension lift with 33" tires. These are just after everything installed.

A body lift does not affect the chassis. So the front tow hooks would stay the same along with the bumpers.

agreed. You have to use bumper lift brackets to close that gap. I've never seen that much gap on a non body lifted ranger unless it's been wrecked.
