Help with the infamous door rust?

Hey y'all, i have the door rust on my 98 coming through to the outside now. Has anybody repaired this and if so how? Looking for a rather quick/easy way. Went to a body shop and they wanted 300! I'd like to do it myself

$300 Isn't that bad really. You could sand it down really good (I mean really good). Don't half *** it or it will be back right away. Use some POR 15 then paint over it.

theres no quick or easy way to repair rust, especially rust thats come all the way through the steel as you describe. remember if you are seeing rust on the outside of the steel, that means there is ALOT more rust on the inside. a quarter sized rust spot on teh outside could be a 6"x6" spot on the inside. simply grinding it off and painting over it will not fix it, you will have to actually cut out the rusted material and patch new in. i doubt that for $300 the shop will do anything but a half *** job because rust repair to do correctly takes a good amount of labor. if in fact they will fix it right for you, $300 is a hell of a deal.
