help someone?

i just came back from the junk yard..picked up a over head consol,center consol,visors with lights, and auto dim rear view mirror...my question however is...how and where can i find the temp wiring for the over head consol..anyone know where i can find these wires?

what? you had to get the temp gauge out of the explorer rangers dont have them...

you should have taken the sensor from the explorer you took the over head from...they wouldnt have charged extra for it either cause its part of the unit.

Look behind the grille in the DS rad support area. The wire color codes are blue/yellow and blue/white and you will want the sensor, the connector and a few inches of wire that go with it.

You can get a new sensor at the Ford dealer for $19. The P/N is F87Z-12A647-AA. You don't even necessarily need the harness it plugs into as you can use wire conncetors to wire it in but the harness would be more weather proof.

I weather-proofed my splices using "liquid electrical tape" which is a flexible quick-setting rubber that is quite versatile. It turns a crimped butt-splice into an all-weather permanent connection.

You can also sleeve soldered splices with shrink tubing, and place a dab of the stuff in the ends of the shrink tubing before shrinking. The tubing shrinks on the rubber which sets quickly from the heat and you once again have a totally weather-proof splice.
