Hit a wall changing radius arm on 93 2wd ranger
So, my husband and I have been working on this for a few days. Car started acting funny when we were braking and we got out to find the passenger radius arm cracked in half. The rust was bad,and it's pothole season here!
What we've done so far:
Soaked everything with a ton of PB blaster and 50/50 atf/acetone, heated stubborn nuts and bolts with MAP torch
Removed the bolt from the center of the radius arm at the base of the shock
Removed the nut at the base of the coil spring from the giant bolt that runs through the right side of the radius arm
Disconnected the sway bar in an attempt to drop the I beam and get the coil spring out.
Where we are stuck:
We cannot get the big bolt at the base of the coil spring to budge. I suspect there is another nut hiding in there. How do we get the coil spring out and get in there to investigate? Disconnecting sway bar hasn't seemed to help.
I consider myself to be very amateur and am worried I bit off more than I could chew here. Advice?
