by the time u buy the metal, and have it cut, and drilled, it almost seems cheaper the other way, but i dont know waht it costs to have all that stuff done silly me.

and im guessing its gotta weigh more than 20 lbs.. this much 1/4" weighs like 50-60

ah not really. they are 28.99 each on one site i know of.

i paid $26 for that steel, which i got 2 out of and the guy that cut them for me got 4, then i paid $13 a shackle.

so for under 50 bucks, where i would have been over 50 and only had those 2 mounts.

I like 'em. If they're for recovery won't the strap or the shackles hit the valance and mess up the paint?

By the looks of it, first pull is going to put that shackle clean threw the bottom of the valance. The shackle is going to be horizontal or around it when used, which puts it right through the bottom of that valance.

I thought the same thing and if your ever stuck down in a hole and need to have the strap at a upward angle your valance is toast then as well.

the valance is about 2 inches from the bottom of the frame. when the shackle rotates up it may press against the bottom of the valance and just push it up some not a lot.

I dont mind that is scratches or tears the valance its already messed up.

Wow. 1" would be strong enough in hot rolled (could have saved some money) -- lol. That'll be beefy alright. If anything breaks it'll be the shackle or the welds!
