Anybody ever buy a truck toolbox from home depot? also anybody know if they keep them in stock for the mid sized trucks aka rangers etc at the local home depots? I want/ need to pick one up tommorow... thanks guys

 

Try Lowes too, by me the Lowes keeps a bunch of nice boxes and a few that fit midsize trucks. But the Home Depot down the street has more expensive/nicer ones but only a couple and they are always for fullsize.

 

thing that sucks is the nearest lowes is 40 minutes from me. how expensive are the ones from lowes? i got like 250 bucsk to spend..

 

I don't remember offhand. Just give both places a call first, every store is probably different.

 

yeah that is true, i also have a store sort of near me called yankee customs which is a truck store ill check them out too..

Go low profile if you can. They look so much better in my opinion.

 

I got the low-profile one from Lowes 2 days ago and love it. Its normally 238 but I have a friend that works there so I got it for 10% off. A member on here vansnxtweek got his for like 180 on sale. I would defn go low-pro, doesn't block any of the rear window and you still get a ton of space.

 

i wanted that one it looked so much sicker but i didnt have enough cash for it, so i just bought the other one :\ still looks sick but im contemplating on how to mount the damn thing now..

 

I got this little grip rite system with mine, it like clamps to the bed then you bolt the toolbox too it. It was 25 dollars at Lowes and was made to go with my toolbox. A lot of other guys use J-hooks, you can also drill and mount but thats permanent, J-hooks are not.

Yeah I'm super picky on my stuff so I just waited and saved up for it. No what pisses me off though this same box came up on craigslist this morning for $120! And I already took the Kobalt emblem off so Lowe's won't take it back. Oh well lol

 

I dont know i dig the look of both boxes lol, i could have found one on craigslist too, which is what i probably should have done, but i wanted it asap so i just drove all the way to lowes and picked one up.. my orginal plan was to wait for xmas for a toolbox but i just couldnt wait that long, plus they come in handy you know.. so i just bought it now haha it was either taht or books for college :P but i still gotta buy those too >:(

 

Haha I know I was lookin at them in the store and my mom goes want a early birthday present? Now I don't get anything at my birthday tho lol, oh well.

 

yeah haha my truck was my birthday/ graduation gift, even though i bought the thing myself lol well i took the alittle of the cash i got for my bday and put it towards the truck. , since i payed for all the crap i put on it since i bought it, also payed for the maintanence and gas etc, so i guess its MY truck and im glad i can finally call somthing i own MY own.

 

Here's the $150 toolbox from Lowe's I bought........I like the smaller size because it leaves more room in the bed.......

 

i just bought that same one i like it, how did you mount yours up? im going to go back to lowes tomm and get the mount kit made for it... i love the box its really nice and perfect size.

 

I put one bolt on each side. I drilled two 5/16" holes, one on each side of the tool box, and inserted a 1/4" - 5/16" x 4" bolt with a large butterfly nut (Toggle Anchor) (approx 2"-3") on each bolt and a flat washer under each screw head. I put the butterfly bolt into the square post opening on the bed side, and just tightened it down. I also put some foam rubber between the box and the bedside to keep it from scratching the paint. The foam came with the tool box.
You can place the tool box on the truck and measure where the square hole is so you can determine where to drill your hole in the tool box.

I used the butterfly nuts into the square post holes, because I didn't want to drill into the truck. Works perfectly.


Note: You can get various size toggle anchors at Loew's.

 

yeah, im just gunna head back to lowes tommorow and pick up the mounting kit then drill some holes in the toolbox and mount it up so i dont have to drill the bedsides.. or i might pick up some of those butterfly bolts you mentioned, ill see come tommorow, either way this bad boy is getting mounted.. thanks alot

 

I just drilled and threw a couple bolts in mine...didn't realize you were from waterboro...that's pretty close to me...

i bought one of their boxes for one of my f 250s back a few years and thought it was kinda crappy.. shop around and check craigs list for a good used one... the last couple i got from tractor supply.. my trucks are work trucks so i dont care if i buy one that has a few scratches cause by the time i get done with them they are destroyed anyway
most places including home depot have mid size in stock...
