2010 Ranger Squealing brakes
Hello guys my Ranger makes a squealing noise coming form the rear disc brakes when i apply a moderate braking force when i brake hard it doesnt squeal no more. When the brakes are cold it doesnt make the sound .
Anybody had this problem, should it be covered under warranty ? Truck has less than 8000 miles.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's just the type of pads they put on the from the factory. Brake dust galore and tons of noise! My fronts were like that until I replaced them (way before it was needed... just sick of the noise and dust!) My Dad's Five Hundred is the same way but he doesn't seem to mind!

Just wondering, what pads did you replace them with to quit the squealing.? My Wagner quickstops squeal like a pig.

You can always take the pads off and apply some synthetic caliper grease to the back of the pads. When the pistons contact the pad they can cause some noise as they clamp on the disc. While your at it you might as well grease the sliding pins.
I do this everytime I do a brake change and have never had a squeak or squeal (170,000 miles).

I would suggest what Full Scale said and put some ceramics on there. They have alot less dust, handle heat better and should eliminate the noise. If you park for more than a few days, the rotor will have a little surface rust and will squeal a little until it rubs off but a few brake applications should get rid of the rust and this is normal. I hope you solve your problem and post it here.
