How did you do your seatbelt buckle when you swapped your seats?

I got a pair of seats from a 03' Sport Trac and some 94' Ranger seat rails. Everything looks fine and dandy except I don't know how to attach the seatbelt buckle? The Ranger seats have the buckle attached to the side of the seat itself, pretty thick metal. The sport trac seats are like 1/32" thick sheet metal so I'd rather not attach it to them but to the floor where the seat bolts in I guess.

Anyone designed a bracket for that or what should I do?

Also how do I trick the sensors which detect when someone is sitting in the seat so that airbags will work?

If I recall correctly, on the Sport Trac seats there is thick metal behind that thin sheet metal. I believe most guys were putting a spacer between the two, and then using a bolt and a lock nut to hold the seatbelt to the seat.

Your best bet then is to make a bracket connecting to the floor.

But then it wouldn't move with the seat, has to attach to the seat or maybe the top part of the rails?

Without seeing your specific seats, I can't really give any advice. Mine came from a 2001 Explorer Sport, and I had thick metal behind the thin stuff and was able to do what everyone else did. I bought a second set of seats from a Sport Trac last year just to re-sell, and I remember them being a little different from the regular Explorer seats, even though they looked identical up top.

Size: 137.3 KBYou think the metal is thick enough? I mean it has a hole in what looks like the right spot already. I could just use a big washer to help it out even more? Penny for reference. Would need to make a hole in the upholstery for the seat belt to stick through, but that isn't too hard right?
