How long can you go...

With the Gas light on... perv's!

My truck is at around 245 miles before the light comes on and I'm usually pretty quick to fill up, most of the time before the light is on. Today I've gone about 12 miles with the light on . Basically what I'm asking is; has anyone accidentally tested the light and ran out of gas? If so, about how far after the light came on? Just curious.

Brandon.

I think there is 2 gallons in the reserve. Not sure. Its bad to go that low anyway.

I went about 25 miles with the light on and didn't run out of gas, but I can go around 350 miles before the light comes on.

I can go about 300 before my light goes on. I believe there is 2 gallons after the light, I was reading my manual last week haha.

Kramer did this one time. it was hilarious.

Everytime I push it to the mark- on the E, it seems like 18 is the most I can put in which leaves me with 2 gallons left in the tank. This is after driving maybe 10 miles past the light.

my "check gage" light comes on when i've used 14.5 gallons of fuel. Meaning, there is still 5 gallons left. I've driven for 70 - 75 miles after the "check gage" light first came on. (i was in the middle of nowhere and it was around 3 am)

Isn't it bad to do this? Aren't our fuel pumps cooled by the gas in the tank? lol, on a side note the longest I went with the light on is 12km.

I don't like to run it that low but when I do sometimes it will turn on sometimes it won't. When it does turn on I usually get gas right away.

i think i've gotten about 75kms when the light is on and made it before i stalled out. i always push it to the limit tho. what's it 4 of our liters to 1 gallon? so everyone saying two gallons? i guess up here in canada there is 8 liters left. does that make sense?

The farthest I've gone was 40km's (25 miles) from when the "check gauge" light came on. I missed the last gas station on the highway and had to hope to make it to the next one. Knock on wood, but I've never ran the Ranger dry in the 6 years I've owned it. My past cars though.....running out of gas was just just another activity.....LOL

that light is soo confusing, mine comes on when the gage is super low and just yesterday i drove alittle less than 20 miles to my house with it on, filled up with about 17 gallons, i think i have a 19.5gallon tank but this tricky gas guage keeps me guessing, i need a scanguage, how about people with those how many miles does it say is left when the light comes on???

The scan gauge would be a nice addition. My 08 Mustang had the "Distance to Empty" notice, but even that isn't accurate! More than a few times it has said 0 Miles to empty and went another 10 miles no problem, lol
