How long will a 2.3L duratec23NS (2001 onwards) last?
How long will a 2.3L duratec23NS (2001 onwards) last?
Has anyone got experience to share?
I'm obsessive about using synthetic and doing preventative maintenance like many here, so to me the question reduces to how far people have driven before the valves wore to the point where thicker shims were required. Burnt valves soon follow. Going in, I knew the engine had no hydraulic lifters but at least it has a timing chain rather than belt. I idly figured when the time comes the effort and cost is better spent installing a rebuilt long block.
All the best,
Andre.

Thanks, I really should have posted there. My question is about the newer engine 2001 onwards and non hydraulic lifters. The thread you mention does not address that question. (One '94 went 373K before dying, which is good to know)
