Care to elaborate? I had a co-worker lose three lights last year after the 1000 because they vibrated loose.. where locktite would have prevented that. |

They were installed with the provided hardware. You didn't answer my question though. Why not put locktite on lights? |
Locktite on anything is probably a smart idea, unless it's something you take off constantly.
Alon suggested a great idea to me, and I've finally been able to drill one of them but have the other side to do today. What I'm doing on the bolts that hold my shocks on is drill a hole through the middle of the nut and bolt (if your drilling anything near hardened Grade 8 like I am it will take awhile, and don't drill a huge hole that will destroy the bolt) and put a small lock through it. I'm not sure you'd want to go to that extent for lights, but I know that I don't want a pair of $800 shocks stolen from something as stupid as a little nut. By drilling through the nut and bolt, it also prevents them from being able to back the nuts off and tourque the lock off. |
i may use the cotter pin idea, but then again, i just baught some 40$ lights from autozone

I want some of this locktite you guys are using... we are talking locktite right? Not JBWeld? I guess I'm just stronger than I think...
|
im not stressing over it too much guys, they are only $40 lights not $200 KC's
|
No no no. The easiest way to do it is take a grinder and grind the edges of the nut to where it is round. Now how they getting it off now? Trust me it wirks. Plane and simple
|
vise-grips...but that will stall them from being stole
|
trust me, use "Red" locktite and tighten them up good. Simple vise grips will not take them off. Iff there is ever someone that needs them that bad than they will use a damn torch to get them off...... but than again thats imo.

the best way to keep them from being stolen off the truck is not to have any there to begin with. saves the trouble/hassle of worring about it plus it looks better
