I decided to do the accident mod!

This mod isn't for everyone. It ruins your weekend plans to go off roading. Makes you late for work.
Basically I was coming down the road and she was coming toward me to make a turn to my right. She wasn't paying attention, althought how do you miss a bright yellow truck, and I didn't have time to react and put a nice pin stripe down the side of her van. Some parts the edge of my light bar caught and ripped her van like a can opener.

So people are saying they will total it and send me a check. If thats the case lets say 2500, my 1000 from taxes and hopefully my 2000 inheritance will come soon plus pocket change, i'll have 6500 to spend on a new truck. I need a truck, no ifs ands or buts about it. I know I could just fix it for less than 200 but I really want a 4wd and this truck is giving me so many problems lately from no gas gauge to a grinding noise I can't pin point.

Total it for just that? Unless the frame is damaged i doubt they would total it.

My main concern was no kids were injured, as you can see by the pictures it's a major crossing for a school and there were kids on the corner where i hit her. I more or less clipped her, if it was a full t-bone it would've caused her to hit a kid.

People are saying cause it's old, close to 200K miles the insurance will see it not worth fixing. My friends car's door was smashed and nothing else only needed a new door and it was totaled, he was sent a 3500 check and they fixed it and painted it and all that.
No air bags at all.

Insurance companys total based on the private party selling value and if it cost more to fix it than that value they will "total" it. Glad it wasnt to to bad. Sorry for the loss

It's not the private party sales value... the insurance company goes by what's called the ACV (Actual Cash Value). This is different than any KBB value.

Regardless, it will total. They'll price it as if it was done at a shop, which will exceed 1000 as the hood, bottom grill, and windshield cowl is damaged slightly, the fender and head light are the worst obviously.

Sorry, I had to. The truck is a goner sadly. Take it as a blessing in disguise and get something nice as a replacement. If you said things were going wrong, well, this made all of those problems go away. Take the good parts off of it and sell them to fund the new truck.

Getting another Ranger? Or something else?

I'm sticking with ford, has to be 4wd and a truck.
If I can find a good f-150/250 with a big engine, and some good tires on it I'll grab that. A ranger will do, but I want one that has some lift on it already.

I had no choice but to hit her, not like I can do 180 spin in a split second.
She turned, there was no stop sign or light in our directions, she wasn't paying attention, there was another car that had turned and made it before her, she pretty much followed the car but didn't make it.

I'm the yellow dot if you can't figure it out.

She was at 100% fault. Her car is pretty much totaled, it would require new power sliding door, driver door, fender and quarter panel.

Dude its totaled. Keep in mind that this was almost $4K in damages -

And his car needs all of the same parts as mine did, plus a new fender, which means they will have to blend a door as well. The fender is probably $350, plus paint time ($350 roughly) plus blend time (another $300 for the door). So his damages are EASILY $4,000 on a truck that will book below that. So its a total.

I'm screwed. I'm getting screwed over by Geico. I got a letter stating the claim may exceed my coverage and will end up coming out of my pocket.
I'm at my wits end. Every time I call my claims rep I get a voice mail. I leave a message saying call me on my cellphone and # they call my house line which I never answer since I'm hardly home.

I'm going to try to get some kind of info out of the lady, I'm hoping she actually witnessed it. It's all I have going for me. If she claims to not have seen it or bull****s and lies. I've got a conspiracy they were working together. I swear I saw her wave her to go. She didn't once ask if I was ok or even talked to me. She talked to the women the entire time.

I'm losing my mind here. I don't know what to do. I can't afford anything. I'm broke as it is just scraping by. Any information would be appreciated.

They said it might exceed your coverage? Who are they saying is at fault? I'm assuming you have GEICO as your insurance company right? If it isn't your fault, get on the phone and talk to the other parties insurance company. See what they have to say about it.

The adjusters can be a pain in the *** to get on the phone. Usually they have another number to call for their supervisor if you are in a more immediate situation. If not, call their claim center and talk to the operator or someone. The point is just to get SOMEONE on the phone.
