157HP 280TQ 3.0 Turbo Diesel!

Naturally Aspirated 05-02-2007 06:40 PM

sucks how a lot of cool cars/trucks are available everywhere but the U.S.

enraged_hunter 05-02-2007 06:42 PM

the best part is that they are putting 3.0 turbo deisels in them

05RangerXLT 05-02-2007 06:43 PM

That's not a Ford oval, it's a "European" sidemarker light.

enraged_hunter 05-02-2007 06:44 PM

check the site out for yourself
http://www.ford.com.au

enraged_hunter 05-02-2007 06:44 PM

i'm not talkin about the marker under the Ranger emblem. there's what looks to be a small blue ford oval on the corner of the bumper

Mike9825 05-02-2007 06:48 PM

me like! looks alot like something Nissan would build, not a bad thing -Mike-

ranger 05-02-2007 06:51 PM

i see those in TJ all the time

IR0NS1N 05-02-2007 07:02 PM

With almost 300tq it would be a monster off the line, if you put a programmer on it you might get another 50-75hp/tq being how diesels seem to work!

Silver 05-02-2007 07:07 PM

this is why ford is hanging the self

why not update the ranger like that in the us market?

and start to match there competition in the smaller truck market
they have the plans get it done

enraged_hunter 05-02-2007 07:10 PM

all i know is these went on the US market, i woould def get one

Gearhead61 05-02-2007 07:17 PM

Damn I'd buy two. That'd solve my issue of wanting more power and more people-carrying without buying a huge truck for sure.

Cowboy Dave 05-02-2007 08:12 PM

Did someone say diesel? Hell of an idea.

I don't know about having more passenger space - I think the quad cab looks a little silly in that picture. The fender flares and moulded bumpers make it look too plasticky to be honest. Too much like an Avalanche.

But putting a 3L diesel in a Ranger is a good idea. Can only hope it crosses the pond and gets adopted Ford in North America.

Cheers,
D.

doc 05-02-2007 08:21 PM

will not pass US emissions, so no diesel in a ranger (nor is there a big market for a small diesel P/U in this country). And they will not do the 4 door or it would compete with the Sportrac.

silveranger93 05-02-2007 08:25 PM

From what my friend told me (he works at Ford), the word is that the new US Ranger will be based on the South American Ranger. He said they actually have a bunch of the South American ones in Dearborn at the test track right now.

Trigger01 05-02-2007 08:33 PM

I'll rock one.

Bentley 05-03-2007 10:14 PM

why not take the explore sport trac put the 4.5 powerstoke in it and beef up the suspension and sell it in the dakota midsize class.
