I need to get some ideas for something to hold my spare tire. I want to get a 32" spare instead of the puny 235/70 that I have currently and it obviously won't fit under there with my hitch and exhaust pipes in the way. The only thing is that I need to make sure that it is SECURE and won't be easy to steal or my dad won't let me get it. Any ideas would be great :D

A chain or cable with a lock run through a stake pocket? Might not be pretty, but it would be less tempting than a tire and wheel just sitting in the bed. You could also get a pre runner style tire carrier. It will eat up bed space, but it would be somewhat secure.

No matter what you do, if a theif wants it bad enough, they WILL get it.

paco is right, if someone wants to steal it they will, the best you can do is make it a hassle. cable through the rim sounds good, it aint bulletproof, but most of the time all you need is a hassle.

paco i see youre in CH, NC, planning on coming to the meet here in a few weeks?

i will be making a prerunner front and rear bumper in a few weeks. the rear bumper will have a tire mount on it, holding the 32 inch tire at an angle. my cousin and i may start selling our bumpers once we make mine.

Once I get my side-exhaust I'm going to see if I can rig up a way to hang a 32" spare under the truck. Then the real challenge will be getting it to hide behind the rollpan I plan on getting eventually.

Possibly, when is it? If it's after the 24th I should be able to come.

I have the flat one. Easily removed (after unlocking the padlock) for FULL use of the bed. I highly reccommend it. I'll see if I can get a pic for you....

"Spike tv" (Trucks) had one that mounts in the bed for oversize tires that won't fit under your truck. If you check their website perhaps you can get the name of the company. The show was about lifting an older Ranger and putting on bigger tires and fenders.

didnt some do a mod where they took the stock tire holder (winch style) flipped the mount, drilled thru the bed and had it so it winches the tire on the bed instead of underneathe? sounds like a good idea to me
