Must be nice to have mommy and daddy pay for gas.
I never had the luxury when i was 16 if I was going to drive I was going to pay for the gas insurance and the vehicle. Now a gift here and there for gas is different if your helping them move something with your truck or running errands for them but My parents simply stated if I was going to drive I'm going to pay for it and thats the best lesson they have taught me so far. I have worked and earned for everything I own. Sure I needed their signature when i bought my first and second truck but I never asked or accepted a penny of their money. I borrowed 3k from them to put on top of my 5k I worked for when I bought my 98 when I was 16 and within a year I paid them back their money plus a couple hundred just to be nice for letting me borrow their money. On the new truck I needed their signature to buy it since I had no credit history with after making 2 truck payments I went to the bank and just paid off the loan because I had the money I had saved from working. It just gives me that much more appreciation for my trucks knowing that i worked hard and payed for every bit of my trucks from gas insurance and the initial truck cost. I see kids get vehicles thrown at them and don't have to pay a dime and they could care less and not respect such a great gift they have had given to them. They have no respect for their vehicle and don't have the full responsibility's they should have accepted if they are going to drive. And those are usually the people who are in multiple accidents or tickets because they did not see how much it truely costs to drive. |
My parents payed for my truck, pay my insurance, and will pay for all my gas as long as I dont just waste it. I pay for any mods I do to it, and I pay for anything that breaks on it, and I pay for at least half my gas because I feel bad when they pay for everything. Once I get a better job then I will for everything I can for my truck.
I just turned 17 and I want to lift my truck, but I like offroading and the things I use my truck for and places I go I couldnt do with a lowered truck. I think you need to look at what your going to use the truck for, where your going to drive, and what look you like best. Like others have said look around the site and see what you like better. |
I still say lift it.
Fat chicks will make your lowered truck scrape. |

suppose i could go check but yeah, anyone know? |
go under video/audio thread there are a couple threads about regular cab systems
|
Amazing at the twist's and turns this thread has taken. My folks bought me my first car at 16, I gave my son a Triumph Spitfire for his first car, and low amd behold, years later he gives me a Mazda B-4000 4x4, [his Ranger 4x4 was newer] which is my main ride today. My daughter and son-in-law [who was driving a lowered white Ford Courier truck the first time I met him {he's never owned anything but lifted full-size 4x4's since}] gave my grandson a Dakota for his first ride.
You have a nice looking ride as it sits, leave it as it is for the time being and learn to drive safe. The mods can come this summer after you have had time to just enjoy a nice truck. Besides, doesn't the sound system come first? My preferance would be to go up due to the snow and increased visibility. |

lol not *****ing or whining that I had/still have to pay for my gas truck and insurance rather proud that I accomplished that all by myself. its just the principle. never said I was better than anyone |
yes i agree i am sellin my 1st ranger for a 4x4 when i got it i loved it but since then i have spent alot of time with friends offroading, hunting, and around the woods and farms and i have decided that instead of pour alot into my 2wd ima just save and get a nice 4x4 ranger much more practical for me just save until u decide what u really want to do to ur truck try not to let others influence u alot do what makes u happy

yea I think I've figured out that if I get real big ideas and he shoots em down then I come back with other smaller ideas, he's cool with it so . . . i always try the "go big or go home" theory first, haha

http://youtube.com/watch?v=qyi19LyM4T8&feature=user After seeing the picture of your truck I would do a 2/3 drop on it(2" in the front/ 3" in the rear), nothing crazy just a mild drop. It'll look sharp! If I had an XLT I would have done 2/3 drop a long time ago. Maybe my next truck... who knows? |
Im 17 and im sure your like me and dont have a lot of money. If you live in wisconson, get a nice set of tires. because 2 wheel drives suck in snow, and you need all the traction you can get. and get a locker or at least limited slip.

i fit two twelves and twin 720 watt amps all behind my seats and it sounds amazing except my rearview mirror keeps sliding down everytime the subs hit
