im so mad

long story short, super foggy, cant see ****, icy as ****, equals ditch. like honestly tho, im a really good driver in bad weather and stuff, but i dont know how this even happened. im more mad than anything. i went to grab my phone and idk after that, spun completely around and went into the ditch rear end first. which is bad. the stupid reese hitch buried into the ground and that what caused all the problems. sometimes those resse's are TOO strong. pulled the bumper and frame down with it. but, oh, nothing wrong with the whole hitch, honestly. actually wen i looked at it more closely, the bumper brackets are fine too. must of been braced from the hitch mount bracket. looks REALLY bad, but really the only damage is the very end of the frame bent down slightly. ill have pics up tomorrow, i just want to sleep. well me and a friend are gunna be working on it monday, so any suggestions? pretty much gunna be heating it up and beating the **** out of it i guess. but yeah ill have pics in the morning.

yeah i guess, you know if the hitch wud of just broken off it would be one thing, but it had to stay right on and *** everything else up. if i hadnt of had the weight in the back it might not of been low enough to grab too.

ya ive never seen fog like this. it was like 30 degrees and rained all day, then kept raining but went up to like 45. thats pry what causes the fog from hell. my headlights were like spotlights in the fog, it was almost better with just the parking lights and freaking moon light.

Holy crap Phil! You're ok right? Where in the heck did this happen? You're lucky it didn't happen south of your house or it could've been a lot worse. I know when I went home from work at 11 I couldn't go over 35. I turned on the GPS so I could tell where the roads were because I couldn't see anything at all.

Dude that sucks. I'm glad you're ok. Hopefully the frame isn't bent side to side because that could be expensive to fix. Hopefully just down a little. But the eye couldn't really tell side to side. If it drives a little weird I'd get it put on a machine to see if the frame is straight.

Yup. That's what happens with your first winter driving in terrible conditions. Glad you're ok. I blame my GF for crap that happens too. Makes us feel less guilty for what happened, right?

I can picture how it went in. I think you'd be fine, but you never know. Like I said, if it drives funny I'd get it checked out. Or if the tires wear strangely.

Dude the fog is terrible tonight. The worst fog I have EVER seen. Like Phil said you are better off driving with no lights on. I did and turned them on whenever I seen headlights coming.

everything you have posted in this thread is beyond ridiculous. you were screwing around with a phone while driving in inclement weather, and you dont know how you wrecked your truck??? you want a hitch to but break away in a wreck, but expect it to be strong enough to tow things???? "in a way" you blame your girlfriend because you felt the need to read/respond to her text???

sounds like its time for a rectal craniotomy....

Looks like you're gonna need new shackles too.

That's why I suggested he have it put on a machine to check the frame. I'm willing to bet the axle isn't centered under the truck right since it bent the shackles and their mounts.

that's why it's a text message. you don't have to reply right away. can't blame anyone else for your actions except you, especially in crap weather like that. it's not her fault you picked up your phone. if you're a good driver like you say you are then you'd have known better than to take your eyes off the road and pick up your phone.

My 2 cents.

I do the same thing, or I turn my headlights off and just use my fog lights and tuen on my lowbeams if I see a car approaching in the distance.

Fog is still horrible today I almost turned around last night to spend night with the G/F but drove with the GPS instead and did like 35 to 40mph the whole way home. Made it but it was a SLOW drive. Glad you are okay hopefully the truck fixes easy.
