Installed Some Under Bed Rail Lights

I bought two 4' flexible LED rope lights a while back on ebay. I really kinda forgot that i had them. Today i decided to install them.

I bought two 4' lengths of 3/4" aluminum angle and some double sided tape.

First i started by double sided taping the light rope to the angle stock. I measured and centered them on the and drilled some holes. I then tapped them for some allen headed button head stainless bolts and then simply wired them to my dome light. What ya think?

In the pictures the light looks blue, they are not. They are white!

It was very easy, I pulled the dome light lens and look at the color of the wire that feeds it power(green with blue strip) then pulled the panel covering the fuse panel and tapped the wire there then ran it through a groment on the floor pan and up the inner fender well. Really clean and easy install.

When I finally get my bed sprayed I will remove them and reinstall them after so they don't accidently spray them.

Would there be a way to get power off of the trailer pigtail? Seems it might be more convenient that way. (I might be wrong, and I'd have to find a switch so it's not on every time I have the lights on)

It looks SICK though and after digging around under the tonneau cover in the dark... it seems like it would be an awesome mod.

Looks Great!!! I wonder how hard it would be just to tap battery power and put a switch back there?? Maybe a blue LED toggle switch in the pocket corner, Just raise the tonneau cover and flip the switch instant light.. HHhhmmmm..

It wouldnt be hard at all to wire them to a switch. I just chose to wire them to the dome light.

Looks great. I too just dug out some LEDs that I forgot about. Now I'm deciding where to put them. I have four of them and was thinking about putting them underneath the vehicle so when I opened the door, they would light up the ground underneath the truck. Any other ideas? I bought the tiny led modules from oznium.com
