Issue After changing Spark plugs / Wires
Hey Guys,
so I have run into a bit of a issue after changing the plugs and wires on my ranger v6 3.0 I changed the stock plugs after 150k for NGK plugs as well as NGK wires as soon as I changed the plugs and wires the truck seems to idle great but under acceleration it goes rough then at cruising speed its fine I got a check engine light and pulled the codes i got p0301 which is cylinder 1 misfire I have checked and rechecked the wiring and plugs and they are tight and brand new I tried I hear a hissing sound from the motor and I checked the vaccum and i notice it bounes from 14 to 17 I am not sure if that helps any does anyone have any suggestions ? thank you guys |
Look around where you did the plug change and make sure you didn't accidentally knock a vacuum line loose. Also, have fun running anything besides motorcraft plugs in these trucks. I would just save yourself the headache and switch them out now.

just because you got what you think are good wires and plugs doesn't meen you cant get bad ones but like powerranger626 said motorcraft works the best in fords

Exactly. I even tried the autolite replacements, only to find the porcelain was cracked on one brand new plug, causing a whole wild goosechase to track down my misfire. Motorcraft came from the factory for a reason.

Guys,
Thank you all for your input I eliminated the wires last night i put the stock one back on and still the same today i will pull out the plug for cylinder 1 and check it out I may just follow your advice and swap back to motorcraft plugs ps just out of curiosity any particular reason why ngks or anything else other than motorcraft works ? |
