Yes there called PATS keys.....if you need one just to unlock your door any regular copy will work but it will not start the engine.

as long as you have the 2 original keys to the truck you can program additional keys

all of are trucks dont have PATS do they? My key isnt big like most, and Ive got copies made, and they start my truck just like the original.

Ford discontinued PATS completely on Rangers in 2005 but it returned on the V6 trucks in 2006. For 2007, it is once again on all Rangers.Originally Posted by 05BLKEDGE

You will need the help of a dealer or locksmith. You cannot program for any additional PATS keys yourself unless you already have 2 or more working PATS keys. This is for security reasons.Originally Posted by bpolly_2004
my ranger only came with 1 key.
However, if you only need an emergency "lockout" key to get the door open, you can cut a non-PATS key for that.

1999 and 2000 had PATS on some Rangers and it became standard on all Rangers in 2001 (except the early 2001MY 2.5L 4-cylinders). As mentioned before, PATS was thrifted for 2005 but returned in 2006 on V6 only. Then it was made standard across the board again in 2007.Originally Posted by masonbass
