Later on!
As some of you know I was on my 5th Ranger, and enjoyed the trucks very much over the years, but as of late my needs have changed drastically, and I just traded off my white Ranger for my 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Hemi. I needed alot more towing capacity, so the change was made. Thanks for all of the info and good times over the years.

Not a Dodge guy, but don't they have transmission problems? If so dude I'd baby that thing. I like new Dodges with the factory 4 link rear end with coil springs on all 4 corners.
Good choice on tha color btw, I love white trucks now. I don't know why.

The tranny issues were around late 90's. All is as good as any other now. But true there were issues.

Yeah, just as long as it is not a 6.7L cummins. The EPA is going to be the death of diesels, and the 6.7 is a classic example. I drive about 4 miles to work, and diesels are not very tolerant of such short runs. So, I got the Hemi. It runs really good, but is darned thirsty. I have 7k miles on this truck, (it came with 6,400) and am getting around 10.4 mpg. They claim at around 15k the mileage will go up to around 14mpg. Smokey tires are just a gas pedal away, but man does it drink!!!

Nice truck I love Dodge HD's I miss mine so much , untill I get to the gas station lol . is it a 4x4 and what trans did you get ?
Any plans for it ?
I dont think so tim .
As mentioned that was along time ago . When I had my 96 2500 HD I pulled well in excess of of the max tow rating wich was 9800lbs , twice a week for a year I pulled a trailer and tractor totaling 12,200 lbs , not a hic-up .
I have freinds with Cummins that have pulled double there tow rating hot shotting heavy oil feild equipment , Same with Ford Superdutys .
None of them use chevys any more though one buddy had the Duramax Allison combo 4x4 the first year it came out he burned up 3 clutches in under 4 months pulling under the max tow rating ...

I still want our 99 2500 Cummins we had at work. Loud and pulls like the big Internationals.

As for the tranny, if it would lay down, I'd just have a heavier duty one built for it. I doubt it will though, I see guys with Hemi 2500's pulling 5th wheel trailers all the time that look really heavyu by guaging what the got on them.

See, thats what i cant stand about this site...
The guy said farewell, and heres my new truck...
No one was bragging about the hemi...
And personally, i owned a 4.0 Ranger, and now a 5.7L ram... And any day you want to race.. we'll take it to the track...

I would like to be clear in the fact that I really enjoyed the time spent on this Ranger forum, and I still think that they are great trucks. In fact, if work ever ends up being a long haul each day again, I may buy another Ranger, definitly before I'd buy a GM product or a Dakota. Hopefully Ford stays smart and keeps a compact/ mid-size truck line going for many years to come, as they are definitly needed.

Thanks! And not bragging about the Hemi, but I THOUGHT my 4.0 Ranger was really fast for a stock truck......I understand your take it to the track comment!
