Leaf spring mount breakage... normal?

Last fall I replaced the front mount for both leaf srpings on my '96 4 banger that I just got rid of. Yesterday I was doing a little easy (nothing hard on equipment) offroading and broke the drivers side front mount on the '97. So this will be the third one I have changed since last fall. Do these break alot? Should I buy a new passenger side mount while I'm at the dealer?

I haven't heard of someone having continuous problems with a mount like that. I guess you're sure your frame isn't bent? If your spring is not true to the mount, then you could have stressed it with flexing.

I can't think of much else that could do it.

it was on 2 different trucks John....

the spring hangers are bad about rusting out and breaking....espically on '98 and older Rangers........

IMO....get all 6 brackets (2 front hangers, 2 rear hangers, and 2 shackles) you need from the dealer to fix it on the '97 so you wont have to worry about them again.....i did all 6 of mine when i swaped in the lifted leafs......cost me right at $115 for the brackets and all the grade 8 bolts.....

My driver side front mount broke last week, I got a new one on just that side, was damn expensive but I'm gonna spray it down with a bed cover spray to prevent it from rusting again.

Well I bought all four on the way home from work today and my dad got me some grade 8 bolts. Broke out the air chisel and got them done. Now I need to make some gas tank straps because I am NOT paying close to $100 a piece for gas tanks straps. I hate living in the snow belt!
