I bought a leveling kit for my 99 Mazda 4000 It’s torsion keys in the front that are supposed to give you 3 inches and spring shackles in the rear that are supposed to give you 2 inches I started installing the torsion keys in the front and when I try to max them out, my front axles are binding, and my upper control arms are resting on the frame when i don’t crank them up as much I can make nothing hit or the axles not bind but I only get about three-quarter inches of lift. Has anyone else run into this problem and what was your solution to get the full 3 inches
What brand or where did you get the lift keys? Did you max your old keys? The stock key could supposedly get you another inch or 2 depending on weight but with them maxed the adjustment bolts is more likely to fail. The lift key just changed the angle so you can put the same torque as the maxed stock ones at a lower adjustment and give you room to adjust. From testimony of many others the lift keys left there vehicle maxed at the lowest setting, but in my experience so far, the aftermarket keys I received don't seat properly on the isolator pads because they are too fat and thus are at an even higher angle. The tension seems higher without even putting the adjustment bolts in than the stock at full load. Did you compare the angle of the torsion keys before installing them to see how different they are? What tool did you use? I started with a 2 jaw puller with safety to keep the jaws from separating but the flex of the crossmember still let it pop off. The c-clamp style couldn't get the right angle, but that may be because the isolator pad was digging in to the key and rather than rotate it pivoted up out of the guide and moved onward towards the center of the cross member. This made the fat part block the keeper hole. The key doesn't seat properly See where it was biting in. Difference in angle The key rolling off the guide/isolator
