Looking to buy a 94 Ranger STX

Ok, I was looking to buy another vehicle for the fam and thinking a truck would be nice and the high school kid can drive it or another one of our cars.
This lot had a 1994 Ford Ranger STX "styleside" loaded for $3995. Its got 156k, very clean interior, fairly new tires, topper which matching paint job. It's a deep purple color with neat trim. The engine is a v6 4.0 and its auto. I haven't gotten a look at the engine or suspension yet. What can I expect to go wrong with this in the near future and is the price okay? I don't think he's negotiable on it. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Price seems kinda high for that year, have you looked around to see what other trucks the same year are going for. It should be in almost mint condition for that price.

It's very clean but the driver's side door has a bit of 'crumpling' (don't know how to describe it...it's not a dent really but it is damaged). He said it was his 'sale' price. I haven't any this old around here and on autotrader, cars, .com, etc. And those in the 96-2000 are running 4-7k depending amenities.

Here in Cali they run around $3000 for a good Ranger if you go through a private party. I personally don't like used car dealers because most of the time they really don't know what the has been through and will even lie if they knew something was wrong with it, unlike a private party where you see the person that used the car. The only good thing about the dealer is you get to return the car if something were to happen to it.

The door probably got hit while being open, does it close good and look at the top window rail and sure it seals good with the cab.
