lower ball join question
lower ball join question
im about to replace my ball joints and iv gone so many places looking for a ball joint compressor and no one has them. can you get by without one or do you really need it?
You can do it with out the press.
Get a socket that fixs the diamter of the ball joint and pound it out. To put the new one in Get a socket that holds the ball joint and get a jack and lift the jack up, then pound the LCA put retaining clip in and you done.
Sorry for the not so detailed direction but I got to go to work..lol.

I've used the socket method, shop press, and have used a tool set - seems like parts stores would rent out the tool set, if you didn't have the right size sockets.
Amazon.com: OTC 7249 Ball Joint Service Tool Set
Auto Zone listed the tool, just didn't have a photo on their site.
