Magnaflow Exhaust

I'm swapping a 2001 SOHC into my 1997 2.3 and I need some shiny exhaust parts before I can finish. I was looking at a Magnaflow single out cat-back, but it is for 98+. What exactly causes the incompatibility with a 97?

your best bet would be to call magnaflow and see, i know that there was a generation change between 97 and 98, not sure if the exhaust system changed any.

Called Magnaflow...they have no clue.

The exhaust shops around here want about $180-$190 to weld it up if I supply a muffler and tip for a single out using 2.5" tubing...which would end up costing about the same as a Magnaflow kit...except none of them would be using stainless like the Magnaflow kit.

Which Borla muffler do you guys use? I'm looking for the low tone and performance, but I don't want something loud...

I just got my Magnaflow duals on last week. single in/dual out was $240 out the door.
I shopped around the area and this was best deal i could find. Being your from this area...check them out. Its on Beal pkwy in FWB... called Sals muffler shop. I also had a High Flow Cat put on this week from a shop here in Crestview. It had a little rattle in one of them so i had the 2 cats replaced with 1 High Flow. It sounds great...I have a 3.0 but it idles like a v8. When throttling it has a higher tone and sounds more like a big v6.

Sweet...I must have called every place but them. Did you have to take your spare tire out to fit dual out?

Did you go to the shop by Southside Elementary for your cat? I've been there twice for a cat and I absolutely hate that place....

I left the spare in... still fully accessable. The pipes run below the outside of the frame on each side. They had to slightly bend the pipes around the rear support bar for the spare tire. And yes i hate that place too (Jet Muffler) its not that the do bad work....its just thier customer relations suck. I jumped on a special they had is the only reason i used them. The high flow cats are on sale for $89.
