Alright well I cleaned my MAF Sensor last week, filled the tank up to see if I would be able to get any better gas mileage. Ended up getting worse than what I normally get which is around 11 MPG(I don't know how I'm even getting this bad gas mileage in the first place). so I'm really frustrated here b/c I don't know what to do to fix this does anybody have any idea on this.

like spark plugs and stuff. cause I did everything I could think of to help the mpg before this

 

Hmm thats pretty bad. I would say plugs and wires and even clean the throttle body and run the cleaner through your Intake Man.. I did that and im at like 280 miles and i still have over an 1/8th of a tank.

Filters all clean too?

 

Tire pressure, oil change, air filter, fuel filter, wires, plugs, trans fluid, diff fluid, PCV valve, thermostat, coil(packs), etc . . .

Mods could include exhaust, intake, gears, lighter/smaller wheels/tires, bed cover, e-fan and most importantly, driving habits.

Try some SeaFoam if you're willing to change plugs again.

 

yeah i have never heard 11 mpg for someones normal average fuel economy.. I dont even know how to get that.. I can romp the gas like a beast and still get like 14 - 15

 

mine got that bad plugs and wires did the trick

 

ya I changed out my O2 senors my spark plugs and wires at the end of summer, cleaned my cone filter at the end of summer I changed my oil last month, I used a K&N oil filter thinking that might help. Fuel Filter was changed at the beginning of the year.

i haven't gotten to the throttle body yet that will be my next project

 

that pictures is wow to me though.. 107 miles and your at almost a 1/4..

 

I did the seafoam before i got the new spark plugs, and i also put in a new Gibson extreme exhaust last year.

 

I'm usually right a little over 110 miles after buring 3/4 tank now that I put 33's on. My Check Engine Light is on now, I'm thinking O2 Sensor. Let me know what you find out, it's not really a big deal to me now since gas is so cheap.

 

what were you getting pre 33's? I am looking at 33's instead of 31's but i am afraid of going from 18 - 21 to like 15 - 18

Well yours is an OHV so i know we cant compare mpg and yours is auto. But hopefully if you change out those plugs and wires and clean some filters youll see 16 or so.

you really couldnt go on a long road trip with that unless you for sure knew there were gas stations i think some spots in utah is 100+ miles between gas.

 

I only got 31s on mine thats stock on the newer rangers, so I'm thinking my tires can't be doing much to hurt this.

 

I was running 30x9.5 mt/r's. My average combined was like 19.5. I hit 23.74 highway one tank I cried I was so happy because gas with like $4.60 haha. I was getting like 320miles per tank, now I get like 160, but something must be wrong. Granted, I haven't gotten it calibrated for 33's yet, so that may be a little bit of my problem.

 

hmmm 320 to 160 makes me cry.. haha..

Yeah i run 280 - 320 before light maybe even more depending on driving..

I would hate to go to 200 - 240 just over tires.. Maybe ill just get another set of 31's maybe mt/rs

 

I already replaced and cleaned that stuff. thats what frustrates me

 

but think of all the miles not being accounted for because of the rolling circumference of the tires...it wouldn't be all, but I bet that there's quite a bit of lost miles there. just have to get it calibrated.

 

will getting them calibrated fix it?

Your hubs wouldn't be stuck locked would they?

I dunno if it'd hurt mileage that bad, just throwing out ideas.

 

Well is it idling rougher or struggling to idle??

Have you run TB cleaner through everything?? I just did it and my truck got alot quiter and runs better.

 

Getting it calibrated wont fix it, it'll just make my odometer show what I'm really traveling with the larger tires, so you can more accurately figure gas mileage.
