Might come back to Ford!

I have had a 94 red cab 2.3 and a 97 super cap 3L. For the last year and a half I have been driving a 97 Toyota 4runner LTD. I live in the mountains and need a 4x4 for work and play. I am the local UPS guy and run around in town and out in the country. Also I paraglide and the 15km drive up the mountain is brutal. I have been happy with the Yota but it has over 220.000 km on the clock and I put on over 2000km per month. My dilema is keep the 4runner until its miled out and get way less than I have paid or get an 08 Ranger at 0% financing. I think I may get a biased opinon at the Ranger forums... so my real question is this. Is it worth getting the FX4? Or will the regular 4X4 package be enough?

I will admit the 4runner is amazing in everything it does, but I know that Rangers have a real good record too.

So what to do? Sell the 4runner or keep it and mile it out?

Wow thanks for the quick replys. I just priced out the diff between sport and FX4 and it came to 1600 bucks less for the sport with the options that I want. And that still doesnt include bucket seats and the limited slip 4.10 axle.

I'd get the FX4 if you can afford it, the one with the manual transfer case and so forth. I'd love to have one of those. More money though.

I think I will go for the FX4? It would **** me off if I didnt. I like the manual transfer case. Never like the idea of a switch for 4x4.

Gosh, I still like mine...of course, less and less is original as I go along -- but I'd do that with any stock truck. Nothing sold stock is what I'd want it to be.

Im not looking to change much on mine if I get one. I do like you sas. Are rubber floors standard in FX4? I like that way better than carpet.

Carpet is standard in the fx4.. Also its a switch on the fx4, they havent put the manual transfer case in a ranger since 03. One of fords bad decisions.

Also i work at ups to dont forget we get xplan through ford as well so we get them a little above dealer cost.

go to www.fordpartners.com Our ups partner code is XE971

whats nice about that is when we go on that website we can search dealer lots and what they have on it and pull up the sticker of the truck. Also it shows us the price of the truck after our discount and any incentives. Whats nice about the xplan is that we dont have to argue the dealership about a price its a set price.

I have the rubber floors in my Ranger Edge and I like them a lot.

My son has a 93 4runner with 212,000 miles. I think you'll miss the four passenger cabin.

The extended cab Ranger is still only good for two people and some stuff.

Just took a 2008 sport for a test drive. Wow Ford really hasnt changed much in the last decade. I am really second guessing myself for selling my 4runner for a Ranger. And yeah Ranger Carl I think I would miss the cabin space. I dunno got some more thinking to do.

I'd have to say get another Ranger, but I am biased. Do you haul people around all the time? If so, I'd keep the 4runner.

No I dont really haul people around but we do have two big dogs. I can put them in the back, it would get a canopy anyways.

Dam it I cant stop thinking about that new Ranger. I know my 4runner needs tires, tranny fluid change, tune up and a timing belt changed. And probaly a brake job this year too. I might just bite the bullet and get it.

yeah i noticed that when i was at the detroit auto show last weekend. have you thought about getting another 4runner or a tacoma? the tacomas are nice. but that 0% is a tempting offer.

The new 4runners I think are too much of a soccer mom-mobile. I would have a Tacoma but for the whatI want its around 6-8 grand more. The 0% is totaly what I am after. I do like how the Rangers are still pretty simple.

Dont forget did you take in consideration the x plan we get from ups to use at ford. My 07's sticker was 17,500 after xplan and rebated I got it 12,900 out the door.

i used to hate ford trucks till feb 26, 2005 when i got my first ranger.(96' Ranger XLT SuperCab 2.3L 5spd.) i had it up till a month ago when i came across a really good deal on a 2002 Ranger XLT SuperCab 4dr 4x4 with the 4.0L Automatic. They didn't really change much on the truck over the years but i must say, ford rangers have really impressed me. they are comfortable and are fun to drive. i don't see myself getting away from ford rangers for the fear i will get locked into another truck for 5 years and really miss my ranger. i have driven every new truck on the market and i just cant seem to want to get into anything else. I guess what i am trying to say is if you get another ranger you wont be disappointed. and dont listen to what people say about how bad a truck is. every truck will break if u abuse it or just dont take care of it. hope this helps.
