I am shopping around for a newer ranger and come by a 2006 4.0 4wd that is located near me. I live in Florida and have minimal experience with rust on vehicles but do have a general understanding of the difference between bad and good as I do work on older vehicles all the time. I am just not that knowledgeable on how prone these trucks are to bad rust and weak areas etc. I went and looked at the truck today and it lived majority of its life in Ohio and has a decent amount of what appears to be surface rust on mainly the bottom surface of the frame. None of it is flaky or falling off just a bit different color. Is this something I should be very concerned about with this vehicle? And if so is this a turn off to buying it or is there a way to prevent further damage?
